Homeless Shelter STEM Outreach Program
We have created a two-part outreach program that will allow children residing in homeless shelters to be enriched in STEAM education.
The first part establishes a fund to allow children residing in homeless shelters to come to the Long Island Science Center at no cost. We can work with homeless shelters to arrange private field trips with taught programs or a more informal visit to our location. Teachers with students who are living in shelters can contact us to assist with the cost of students attending school field trips.
We can also work with shelters to provide no cost mobile STEAM programming at your location. We can come directly to you to provide engaging, interactive STEAM programs and avoid transportation issues.
We have an overall goal of serving 1,000 students with this effort. If you work for a homeless shelter and would like to learn more about how to get involved or are a teaching looking to help fund field trips for students in your class please contact us using the button below.
